Sarah (Wenyi) Gong has a multidisciplinary background, and is passionate about exploring the intersection between digital media, management, business, design and education.
She loves learning new skills, enjoys working with a diverse team of highly motivated individuals, and values the unique skill sets each member brings to a team. She is a Project Management Professional (PMP)®, Professional Scrum Master (PSM) and learning experience designer. She also gets skills in User Experience design and Design Sprint facilitation.
Sarah (Wenyi) has a consistent passion for education and technology. She is currently working at the University of British Columbia (UBC), and supporting the portfolio of UBC Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Her responsibilities include program development, course operations, learning experience design, learning content visualization, digital marketing, learner engagement and analytics. Along with my colleagues, I work collaboratively with multiple faculties, departments and external partners (e.g., edX, AWS Academy, Microsoft, Vancouver General Hospital and doctors without borders). She has been directly involved in the development of over 25 projects, and oversees the operations of almost 60 courses. As one of her professional development practises, she has completed a continuing education program in Digital Learning Design at the University of Oxford.
During her time in the Master of Digital Media program at UBC, Wenyi worked on a variety of projects in both industry and academia. Wenyi also gained a Master of Education degree from UBC, focusing on leadership, design thinking in education, and gamification. Before pursuing her MDM and MEd degrees, she worked as a public elementary school teacher and program director in China.
Outside her career as an educator, Wenyi is a female entrepreneur. In 2021, she proudly started a digital art studio based in Vancouver, Canada. In 2013, she worked with her friends and launched a start-up focusing on green energy technology. The foundation she established has allowed the company to thrive until today.
In her spare time, Sarah (Wenyi) practices Taekwondo and participates in marathons (over 100 races). She embraces challenges, viewing them as opportunity to foster learning and growth.
