Design a cube that communicates the interaction of turning/rubbing/squeezing.
This article includes:
The interaction that’s being communicated,
The design rationale, whether it works and why, and

Interaction – turn me
Design rationale:
The image on each side of the cube is connected to the rest of images, and all the 6 images can piece out a complete image. The purpose of this design is to stimulate users’ curiosity - when users see one side of the cube, they might be curious about what the next image is and will be wondering about the panorama.
The following video shows how the cubes look like:
Cube #1: World Map
Cube #2: A Parking Lot
Additionally, images that are familiar to the users will greatly motivate them to turn the cubes to see all sides. I made another two cubes with the pictures of the Centre for Digital Media(CDM), and testers were very excited when they recognized the pictures.
Likewise, other pictures (preferably 360 view pictures) can also be used to create such cubes.
Cube #3: CDM Building
Cube #4: CDM Kitchen
Based on the user tests I did with some classmates at weekends, the cube(s) proved the design rationale. The testers all turned the cubes to see all images and recognized how the full view looked like.

Cube of Emoji
Interaction – turn me
Design rationale:
There is an interesting emoji on each side of the cube, such as a woman with red lips, pirate face, googly eyes, and happy faces with diamond eyes. The purpose of this design is to trigger users’ curiosity so that they will turn the cube to see different funny emojis.
