In the second week, we completed the first sprint by following the five-day sprint method that was derived from Google Ventures.
Day 5: Testing and feedback
On May 15th 2019, we presented our solution and prototype to the client and a physician collaborating with the client. Both the physician and the client provided us with a lot of feedback and pointed out a new idea that we might work on.
Towards the end of the one-week sprint, our team spent an afternoon reflecting on the product and project development process.
We did a “KFC” exercise on the product prototype. KFC stands for KEEP (things that we did well and want to keep), FIX (things that need improvement), and CHANGE (things that we didn’t do well and need to be changed). Each team member shared their opinions on each point.
KFC stands for KEEP (things that we did well and want to keep), FIX (things that need improvement), and CHANGE (things that we didn’t do well and need to be changed).
Followed by the “KFC” exercise was retrospection on the team’s performance. On the retrospective chart, the “+” represents things that are going well in our team, and the “Δ” representing things need to be improved. Everyone wrote their reflections, which we then had an honest group discussion about. The reoccurring themes in the “+” part included positive team dynamics, open communication, and listening, while the “Δ” themes included clearer schedule management, time box, and more opportunities to talk.
Our first sprint turned out to be very productive! To be honest, it was intense but rewarding. The journey ahead is arduous and long, but we are grateful to have had such collaborative clients, supportive supervisors and talented teammates along the way.
We are ready for the challenges ahead!
